If you're heading out to, particularly alone, follow the late back procedure. Let a trusted person know where you're going, what time you expect to be back, where you're parked, your planned route, what you're wearing, and your mobile number. Make sure they know what to do if you don't check in when expected. This gives you peace of mind knowing someone will raise the alarm if needed. Just remember to let them know when you're back off the hill to avoid raising a false alarm.
Please note: The Police have a dedicated phone number, 101, which can be used in the event of non-emergency situations, such as when someone is concerned about their partner who is overdue coming off the hill.
